日秘修交百周年記念日本庭園 The Japanese Garden of Lima
既存の市立公園の敷地の一部が提供されて記念事業として作庭された。石探しのために遠くまで川や山を探したが結局、近くの山にある筑波石に似た石を選定した。樹木については現地のナースリーのものでは小さかったので困っていたが、現地日本人学校に植樹された木が2ｍ以上になっているとのことで、これを使わせてもらうことになった。
庭の様式については、希望では築山泉水式による回遊式であったが、日本庭園のせせこましさ、誇張的な表現はつとめて避け、広い現場に適し、日本庭園をはじめて見る人たちにも理解されやすいように構想して、基本設計を固めた。
裏千家から寄贈された茶室に茶庭も添えた。

The Japanese garden in Lima, Peru, was constructed in a part of an existing municipal park as a memorial project. The builders searched for stones at a nearby river as well as at a mountain far from the site. In the end, stones similar to those found in Tsukuba were brought from the mountain. Instead of seedlings from a local nursery, trees that had been planted at the local Japanese school, which were more than two meters high, were transplanted to the garden.
As far as the style of the garden, the designers originally aspired to create a hill-and-pond stroll-style garden, but to avoid (as much as possible) an exaggerated representation of the restraint inherent to the Japanese garden style, they settled on a plan that would be suitable for a spacious site and easily understood by people viewing a Japanese garden for the first time.
A teahouse donated by the Urasenke tea school complements the Japanese-style tea garden.
